A father is in mourning after police said his wife shot and killed their two sons and then herself.
“I just feel like I lost my whole world, you know,” Pierre Hurtado said. “It’s a bad decision that she made. She’s the mother of my kids.”
Early Sunday morning, Modesto police arrived at a home in the 1800 block of Rancho Encantado Court, to find the bodies of 6-year-old Pierre Hurtado, 4-year-old Nathan Hurtado and their mother 28-year-old Lisandra Corrales.
“They didn’t have to go this way,” Hurtado said. “They were happy kids, you know. It wasn’t their fault.”
Police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide and have not released a motive.
Hurtado said he and Corrales had a strong bond.
“She was a great woman,” he said. “We loved each other.”
On Monday afternoon, the crime scene at the Modesto home had been replaced by a small memorial at the front door.
Hurtado said he’s surrounded by family, including their 10-year-old daughter, as they begin to heal.
